Professional Services Source is continuing its
tradition of providing quality, high impact ethics training programs
utilizing the latest technologies and teaching techniques that
stimulate life-long learning in an exciting and informative manner.
Instead of providing clients with a list of "dos and don'ts",
PSS provides clients with cutting-edge graphical self assessment
tools and stimulating process oriented content focused on teaching
the analytical skills and decision-making tools that enable individuals
and organizations to thrive in a complex world of competing demands
and goals.
Executive Staff:
Candice Shelby, Ph.D., President
Designing and implementing ethics programs for targeted educational
and professional environments has occupied a significant portion
of Candice
Shelby's time over the past 13 years. After earning her Ph.D.
from Rice University, Dr. Shelby began developing a professional
career in ethics training, consulting, and program development,
while teaching in diverse academic settings. She has created and
implemented customized programs in ethics for a wide variety of
organizations, including the American Leadership Forum, Colorado
Bar Association, Conoco Oil and University of Houston Health Sciences
Center. Dr. Shelby has been a member of the American Association
for Professional and Applied Ethics and was the founder and first
editor-in-chief of Dilemma: An Ethics Journal. In addition to
her responsibilities with Professional Services Source, she is
also Executive Director of the Center
for Ethics and Community at University of Colorado at Denver
where she teaches philosophy.
Matthew Pike, B.A., Director
Mr. Pike has a degree in Philosophy from the
University of Colorado. In addition to his background in Philosophy
and ethics, he has also accumulated extensive experience within
the IT field, as well as management and communications expertise.
He has worked with a wide range of professional industries and
non-profit organizations. He brings a well-rounded leadership
presence into the PSS formula. Matt Pike is committed to leading
by example, believing that an ethics consulting and training company
needs to embody the values and techniques that it teaches. With
this in mind, he has directed himself toward the goal of providing
quality, customized ethics training, consulting and code building
services to businesses, organizations and communities around the
world in the hope of fostering a more productive, more efficient,
and happier environment for businesses, families and individuals
to exist.
Former Staff:
Georg Gadow, Ph.D., Advisor
Georg Gadow has done foundational research on ethical decision-making
and training program development, publishing numerous findings,
including a popular monograph on Ethics in Everyday Life. He is
currently the Director of the Chancellor's Scholars and Leaders
at the University of Colorado at Denver. He also is a co-director
of the UCD Millennium College as well as the Founder of UCD Center
for Ethics and Community. He has developed and delivered ethics
programs in numerous non-academic settings, including health care,
business, engineering and law. He has consulted with school districts
and city governments on ethics codes and ethics training. Dr.
Gadow was born in Berlin, Germany. He received his Ph.D. from
the University of Texas at Austin. Aside from teaching philosophy
and health care ethics at various institutions, Dr. Gadow spent
several years in private practice as a Philosophical Counselor.
Most recently he participated in an international conference on
leadership development in Toronto.
Karen Cise Flaherty, General Manager
With over 20 years experience in marketing,
merchandising and licensing, Ms. Flaherty brings a broad base
of business knowledge to PSS. Most recently, Ms. Flaherty was
the Marketing Manager over the past 15 years with American Practice
Management (APM) - the largest consulting firm in the country
dedicated to healthcare consulting at the time of its merger in
1996 - and then with the merged entity as the Healthcare Group
of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). In that role, she facilitated
the marketing and awareness activities for as many as 40 partners
and over 250 consultants. Specific activities included the coordination
of articles and speaking engagements, trade shows and educational
sessions, all with the objective of assisting our clients increase
their knowledge of the healthcare industry and its ever-changing
trends. The spectrum of clients included health plans, hospitals
and health systems, and academic medical centers throughout the
country. Prior to her role at APM/CSC, she was an account executive
with International Management Group in New York, where she created
and negotiated licensing and merchandising agreements with Wimbledon,
the British Open and a number of golf and tennis personalities.
Ms. Flaherty is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in
Philadelphia, where she majored in Healthcare and Urban Studies.
